S.T. Mobile- Diagnostic Request Form
Below are S.T. Mobile’s Diagnostic levels. Included are the prices, criteria, and basic examples. We will try and place you in the correct level based on the information you provide here. Occasionally, the problem becomes more in depth than initially presumed. We will always get approval before moving up a level.
Level 1: Standard Diagnostics- $160
Level 1:
Single System, Low Complexity:
- Fuses, relays, and basic electrical issues.
- Module configuration or feature enabling (e.g., transport mode reset, high beam activation).
- Quick component tests (e.g., battery/charging system, sensor inspection).
- Single module failure (Power/ground/Comm checks) Exceptions can be made for difficult to access components or unique situations
Examples: - Resetting transport mode.
- Diagnosing and replacing a missing fuse.
- Obvious circuit issues found with a visual inspection.
- High-voltage battery disconnect seating.
Level 2: Advanced Diagnostics- $250
Automatic Indicators for Level 2:
Circuit Diagnostics:
- Parasitic draw that are not intermittent
- Network-wide or isolated CAN bus issues.
Advanced Immobilizer work:
- Proximity functions not working
Drivability Issues:
- Misfires requiring in-cylinder inspection or oscilloscope testing.
- Timing verification using advanced tools (e.g., Picoscope).
- No code situations that are not obvious
Transmission/Parasitic Draw Diagnostics:
- Gear ratio codes or solenoid testing where the problem component is pinpointed
- Parasitic draws (e.g., network stay-awake issues).
Hybrid/High Voltage:
- High-voltage isolation faults.
Most European vehicles
Examples:
- Air intake smoke test for leaks.
- Diagnosing network-wide CAN failures.
- Hybrid battery diagnostics requiring specialized isolation testing.
- Parasitic draw tracing involving a multi-module network.
Level 3: Specialty Diagnostic- $400
Criteria:
- Flood cars
- Auction cars
- Rebuilt Vehicles
- Intermittent problems not easily duplicated such as parasitic draws or short circuits
- High end luxury vehicles (eg: Bentley Maserati)
- Vehicle issues requiring more than 2 hours of diagnostic time
